The 7th Annual Iowa Wind Power Conference will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 11-12th at the FFA Enrichment Center on the Campus of Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa with a terrific line up of speakers, informative sessions, exhibitors and new research displays. The tentative program is being finalized and will be on the IWEA website soon and can be seen by clicking on the 2014 Conference Program on the navigation bar on the left side of the IWEA website home page at www.iowawindenergy.org.
There are an impressive set of General Sessions planned featuring nationally recognized leaders in the wind energy industry, elected leaders, policy development specialists and utility leaders in the wind energy industry. A special feature of this year’s conference will be the first ever Education/Job Fair on March 11th which will provide wind energy companies an opportunity to meet with wind energy training programs and job seekers. There will also be an opportunity for K-12 students and educators to learn more about job opportunities in wind energy.
There will be 30 exhibitors showcasing their products and services during the conference! Exhibit booths are limited this year and are expected to go fast.
Dozens of university wind energy research project displays will be available during the conference. These project displays will be judged by a panel of experts and cash awards will be given to the top projects in several categories.
The Annual Membership Meeting is Tuesday, March 11th from 3:45 to 5 pm with IWEA committee reports and the election of Board members to complete.
Registration materials are available on the IWEA website, and if you’re waiting until the last minute to register, remember there is an additional $50 fee for registering at the door. Register today to attend one of the best regional wind association events in the nation!
Iowa is the national leader in the percentage of all electrical generation from wind, number of wind energy manufacturing companies/wind related businesses and number of wind energy jobs. With the 7th best wind resource in the nation and a central location with convenient access to major navigable rivers and the national interstate highway system Iowa is likely to remain an industry leader.
